What's New?
This section is where I'll keep track of major additions and changes to the

should be shared. I'll keep things listed for at least a month after I add them,
with a date indicating the last change.
Added April 28: new Audio/Video page.

Updated April 28: a few pages here and there.
Personal Information
Interviews
- Interview for Writer's Voice,
from 1973. This is the interview Scott Zrubek was offering on CD. You can
contact either him or me for a copy on cdr, or download audio VQFs via the
link above.
- Interview from Absolute
Magnitude, html'ized for your benefit by Scott Zrubek.
- Interview with Roger Zelazny by Garner Johnson. This
interview was on the Parallel Universe Parking website a while back, then
vanished when PUP died, so I'm hosting it here pending any request not to do
so.
- An interview from Phlogiston, Issue 44,
conducted by Alex Heatley.
- Here's an essay entitled "Forever Amber", which
dicusses Amber, Roadmarks, Zelazny's writing habits, and his
feelings on collaborations.
Good-bye and hello, as always:
- As you might know, Roger Zelazny died the summer of 1995, on June 14. The
obituary is here.
- Lord of the
Fantastic, the tribute anthology for Zelazny, was published in
August 1998. It's got a ton of short stories and personal reminiscences of
friendships and encounters with Zelazny. Well worth picking up if you're a
Zelazny fan.
- Trashman wrote the poem "A Tribute",
with many allusions to Zelazny's works.
- The Locus obituary and Memoriam issues are available as back issues for $3.95
each, plus $1 shipping per issue. The obituary was in the July 1995 issue, and
the Memoriam was in the August 1995 issue.
- Here's a little more information from George R.R. Martin about Zelazny's
death, In Memorium.
- Jane Lindskold's
personal biography of Zelazny, drawing from the year in which she lived with
him before his death. The memoir was written for the game Chronomaster.
- Avonbooks had a small (standard)
biography on their site, a nice piece by Jane Lindskold which is no longer on
their site. I've put up her "Roger Zelazny
Appreciation", in which she talks about how they got acquainted and about
their year living together, while I wait to get official permission from Avon
to host the piece.
- Steven Brust's comment
on Zelazny, from a post to the rasfw newsgroup.
- Edward Bryant's Remembrance of Zelazny, along
with a picture of Zelazny.
- Michael O'Brien's account of an afternoon spent with the Zelaznys, in
Australia. (Original went down; I'm reposting a copy I had saved.)
- Terry Bisson's "Roger Zelazny: An
Appreciation", from the 1996 World Fantasy Program Book.
- Here's a lengthy review of Zelazny's life and career. Note:
the original site where this was hosted vanished, so I'm reposting it here.
Contact me if you're the original hoster and want it removed.
- Another brief biography
and review of some of Zelazny's works.
Photos
- The photo above
is from the back of the dust jacket for Prince of Chaos.
- This photo is
from the back of the dust jacket for the early books in the Second Chronicles
of Amber; my copies of Trumps of Doom and Blood of
Amber both have it.
- Drawing by
Jim Zimmerman (who did the "Last Defender of Camelot" comic) from the
front cover of Hymn to the Sun an Imitation.
- Photo from
page ii of Today We Choose Faces.
- Photo from
page ii of Jane Lindskold's Roger Zelazny biography.
- Photo from the front cover
of Jane Lindskold's Roger Zelazny biography.
- The first color
photo I've seen of Zelazny, from the page mentioned directly above. The
original source is The Multimedia Encycopedia of Science Fiction.
- I found an old picture I had thought lost stashed on my hard drive of
Zelazny with a random
fan.
- A picture from the 1995 World Fantasy Convention In Memorium
page.
- A super-tiny
photo from a 1993 edition of the Russian newspaper Knignoe
obosrenie.
- A small picture entitled Paris, 1988.
Printed Bios and Critiques
- Hrvoje Niksic wrote a small
biography for the Internet Movie Database.
- Theodore Krulik wrote a biography/literary analysis called Roger
Zelazny. It covers biographical info gleaned from interviews with Zelazny,
along with critique of Zelazny's published works through 1986. I read it for
an English project a few years back, so here's my report on the book.
- Jane Lindskold wrote a similarly titled book; Roger Zelazny. It's
also an excellent source for critique of influences on Zelazny and common
themes to his writing. I didn't write a review of this one, but Amberzine
#8 has reviews by Algis Budrys and Carl Yoke.
- I came across an excellent essay on the web positing the theme of personal
growth as a crucial element in Zelazny's writings. The essay, entitled Character
Development and Psychological Growth: Roger Zelazny's "Great Theme"
specifically discusses "A Rose for Ecclesiastes", Lord of Light,
and "He Who Shapes".
Honors
Three lists of (hopefully) all the awards and recognitions Zelazny has won or
for which he and his works have been nominated:
Zelazny was nominated in 1979 for the Gandalf Award for Grand Master of
Fantasy.
Zelazny was the 1994 ICFA Guest of Honor. The ICFA is the International
Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts.
